ETHICS & MODERN SLAVERY STATEMENT
I. Introduction
At Fleurette, we are a small, hands-on designer that understands that fashion does not happen in a vacuum. Every piece of clothing we make is part of a system that affects people, communities, and the environment in some way.
We do not believe in compartmentalizing our design with our responsibility. We do not think that what we do behind closed doors is any less important than what we do in front of the camera. This includes our relationships and the scale at which we choose to operate. As a fashion brand, we strive to be small enough to hold ourselves accountable. We do not believe in growth without oversight, as that is how harm becomes normalized in our industry, and we do not subscribe to that model in any way. Fleurette believes in fashion that is made with respect for the people who make it and with consideration of the impact that fashion can have. This informs all of our decisions as a fashion designer.
II. Statement Against Modern Slavery
Fleurette is strongly opposed to all forms of modern slavery, forced labor, and human exploitation in any of its forms. Fleurette does not associate with, support, or deal in any manner with any organization that engages in any form of slavery, forced labor, or human exploitation. We believe that all employment within our network of producers must be voluntary, well-compensated, and dignified. Fleurette recognizes that slavery in fashion can be hidden in ways that are complex and subtle. We understand that fashion slavery can often be hidden in the most unexpected places. We recognize that we cannot afford to be oblivious to the fact that fashion slavery exists in our industry. We, therefore, take our role in our industry very seriously by remaining involved in our production process rather than stepping away from it and treating it like a dirty word that we do not want to deal with. We only work with partners who operate on voluntary employment and fair treatment. Everyone involved in making Fleurette garments should be there by choice and paid for their work.
As of November, 2025, Fleurette has been in the process of verifying as much government and official documents as possible for an official Modern Slavery Statement in the worldwide commonwealth and commerce.
III. Fair Wages
We don't attempt to make things for the lowest cost possible. We believe in paying for work done on our pieces based on skills and time. Garment making is a skilled craft, and it is treated as such. We'd prefer to keep our production levels low rather than attempt to save money by sacrificing the people making the pieces.
IV. Working Conditions
We believe that the people making our pieces should have a safe and reasonable working environment. We believe in proper working conditions, reasonable working hours, and a reasonable working environment. We don't partner with companies that have unsafe working environments and excessive working hours as a necessity for production.
V. Materials and Natural Fibers
We favor natural fibers and materials that have longevity. Our products are made from fabrics like cotton and other natural fiber blends such as linen, cotton sateen, and cashmere. We like to work with materials based on how they perform, how they feel, and how long they last. We want to make something that stays in rotation, not something that is quickly replaced. We are not perfect by any means, but the aspect of slow fashion is one we look upon.
VI. Production and Overconsumption
Most of our Fleurette products are made from pre-orders or very small production runs. We do this because we want to make what you want, not what we think you might want. We have no interest in overproduction because it equals waste.
VII. Rare Restocks
We mostly do not restock our previous products. We like to think of our products as being finished. Once something is finished, it stays finished. It prevents us from having to remake the same product repeatedly to keep up with orders. It also prevents our products from being something we are consistently releasing.
VIII. No Dropshipping / Anti Dropshipping
We do not dropship. We develop our products, sample our products, and work with partners and fabric suppliers to make our products. We know what we are selling because we are a part of the process. There is no third party listing our products for us and no disconnect between us and production.
We also do not support any brands or individuals who dropship dupes of our products, as well as brands or individuals that dropship in general.
IX. Responsibility Moving Forward
We are still growing, and that means our standards will continue to evolve. We keep our production small so we can stay involved and aware. As we grow, we will continue to build on that. We do not claim perfection. What we can say is that we are hands-on, we are involved, and we take responsibility for the process behind every piece we put out.
